Apply for Grants
John Randolph Foundation partners with charitable organizations in the Tri-Cities region of Virginia to build healthy communities and bright futures.
Our grantmaking process is designed to be accessible, efficient, and aligned with the needs of charitable organizations and our donor-directed funds. We offer two types of funding opportunities:
Responsive Grants – For charitable organizations seeking support for programs that align with John Randolph Foundation’s strategic priorities
Community Contribution Grants – Small-scale funding (up to $1,500) to support local events, initiatives, and/or urgent needs within the community.
Any charitable organization that wishes to apply for either grant should first establish an organizational profile in the online grant portal. Click on the grant portal button below.

April 1: Letter of intent (LOI) open for submissions
June 2: LOI deadline
July 17: Notification emailed to applicant
August 24: Full application due (invitation only)
November 21: Notification emailed to applicant
December 9, 10 & 11: Grant Awards Ceremony
NOTE: If a due date falls on a weekend or holiday, we will accept applications submitted on the next business day.
Community Contributions
No deadline to apply – applications are accepted on an on-going basis. The maximum grant award is $1,500, and grant decisions are typically made within three weeks of submission.
