Purpose
Family, friends, and the surrounding communities came together to honor Payton Lynn Faulkner through fundraising efforts to support building a state-of-the-art Batting Cage Pavilion in his memory. In October 2023, the project was successfully completed. The Payton Lynn Faulkner Batting Cage Pavilion, located at Prince George High School, provides the baseball team and residents of the surrounding area with a professional-grade batting cage that will benefit youth for many years to come and serve as a lasting legacy for the family and community as a whole. The remaining funds were used to establish the Payton Lynn Faulkner “Live A Life Remembered” Memorial Scholarship. This scholarship celebrates the life and legacy of Payton Lynn Faulkner and honors his family’s devotion to the memory of their son and their dedication to giving back. Payton was born and raised in Prince George County and played baseball since the time he could throw a ball and swing a bat. He played recreation, travel, and school baseball through his senior year at PGHS with his last 4 years playing Varsity. Baseball gave Payton a deep-rooted family of coaches, players and their families that will live on forever. He had immense pride for Prince George and lived that through everything he did. He graduated with Honors from PGHS in 2022 and received his associate in science degree from Richard Bland College of William & Mary at the same time. He wanted to keep God first, leave a mark, look out for those who needed it, always have fun, and just keep “L-I-V-I-N.” With this scholarship, Payton’s memory will live on, inspiring and motivating the youth to strive for greatness and live life to the fullest.
To promote continuing education by awarding scholarships for any course of study. However, priority may be given to a student who is pursuing a career in the field of Engineering, Science, or a Technical/Trade related field and/or has played on the Prince George High School Baseball Team. Applicants must demonstrate academic achievement, extra-curricular involvement, and a commitment to the community through volunteer service. Institutions may include technical/trade schools, community colleges, and two or four-year colleges/universities.

This scholarship will be available for seniors of Prince George High School with priority given to a student who 1). will pursue a career in the field of Engineering, Science, or a Technical/Trade related field, 2). and/or has played on the Prince George High School Baseball Team. Scholarship Applicants Must
- Express an interest in attending technical/trade schools, community colleges, and two or four-year colleges/universities college as a full-time or part-time undergraduate student (at least 9 hours per semester).
- Express an interest in pursuing a course of study in Engineering, Science or a Technical/Trade related field or is a member of the Prince George High School Baseball Team.
- Submit a completed “John Randolph Foundation Scholarship Application” ONLINE which includes the ability to UPLOAD the required “attachments” requested on the application.
- High School applicants must have a cumulative G.P.A of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale..
- Exhibit good citizenship (as evidenced by letters of recommendation from two sources).
- Demonstrate commitment to the community through volunteer service.

Procedure
The scholarship will be paid directly to the school for current year tuition, fees, books purchased through the institution attended, and on-campus dormitory and meal plan expenses. The scholarship committee will review and evaluate all applications and announce awards each spring. The committee will also review and revise the scholarship policy and criteria as necessary.

The deadlines are as follows:
- The application must be completed online. All required documents must be attached to the online application. Any documents mailed or dropped off at the John Randolph Foundation will not be accepted and the application will be deemed incomplete.
- The deadline for the submission of the online application is on .
- If the above due date falls on a Saturday, Sunday or a legal holiday, then the deadline becomes the next business day by .

Required Documents
All required documents must be uploaded with the application. Any mailed or hand-delivered documents will not be accepted.
- Academic Transcript(s) (High School or College whichever applies.)
- FAFSA Submission Summary (which includes the Student Aid Index (SAI): formally known as Expected Family Contribution (EFC). SAI is an eligibility index number used to determine federal student aid and is generated from the completed FAFSA Application.
- Two Letters of Recommendation (Current)
Failure to submit the online application with all documents attached to the application by the deadline will disqualify an applicant from consideration for the Payton Lynn Faulkner “Live A Life Remembered” Memorial Scholarship. The John Randolph Foundation Scholarship Committee reserves the right to interview applicants in the final stages of selection.
The decision of the scholarship committee in all matters regarding scholarships is final. Canvassing a scholarship benefactor, any John Randolph Foundation trustee or employee shall result in immediate disqualification. Scholarship awards are subject to the availability of funds, meeting the criteria as outlined in the guidelines of the individual scholarship program and contingent upon acceptance and enrollment in an approved program.
