Dr. William (Bill) Butler earned his BS in Biology from the College of William and Mary, his MD from the University of Virginia, and his Masters in Tropical Medicine and Hygiene from the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences. He is board-certified in General Surgery, Diving and Hyperbaric Medicine, Wound Management, Tropical Medicine and Hygiene, Public Health and General Preventive Medicine, and Aerospace Medicine. Additionally, he holds the United States Air Force (USAF) Special Experience Identifier Academic/Clinical Grandmaster designation in both Hyperbaric Medicine and Aerospace Medicine. Dr. Butler is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and the Aerospace Medical Association. He is an internationally recognized expert in altitude decompression sickness and aeromedical evacuation. After nearly 40 years of service in the USAF, he retired to his childhood home in Hopewell, Virginia.
